Clinical Supervision at Battlefield Counseling

Building Confident, Ethical, and Competent Therapists

At Battlefield Counseling, we believe clinical supervision is far more than a requirement for licensure. It is one of the most influential experiences in a therapist's professional development. While supervision fulfills state licensing requirements, our philosophy extends well beyond reviewing documentation or counting hours. We view supervision as an opportunity to help clinicians develop confidence, critical thinking, ethical judgment, and professional identity.

Our Philosophy

Graduate school provides a strong foundation, but supervision bridges the gap between knowledge and real-world clinical practice. Our goal is to help therapists become thoughtful, intentional clinicians who understand why they are making clinical decisions, not simply what intervention to use.

Meet Your Clinical Supervisor

Clinical supervision is provided by Anthony Burchette, LCMHC, LCAS, Qualified Clinical Supervisor, Owner and Clinical Director of Battlefield Counseling. Anthony has extensive experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship concerns, attachment injuries, and other complex clinical presentations. He is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and integrates trauma-informed care, attachment theory, ACT, DBT, EMDR-informed case conceptualization, and other evidence-informed approaches into supervision.

One question frequently asked during supervision is:

"Tell me something I can't diagnose."

This reflects the belief that diagnoses describe patterns, but they do not fully explain people. Supervision focuses on understanding the whole person and helping clinicians develop strong clinical reasoning.

A Developmental Approach to Supervision

Supervision is individualized while following a structured developmental model. Areas include case conceptualization, treatment planning, documentation, ethics, boundaries, countertransference, professional identity, and clinical confidence.

Areas of Clinical Focus

  • Trauma-Informed Care
  • Attachment Theory
  • EMDR-Informed Case Conceptualization*
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies
  • Parts Work and Inner Child
  • Guided Imagery
  • Nervous System Regulation
  • Memory Reconsolidation Concepts

*EMDR-informed supervision is not a substitute for EMDRIA consultation.

Individual and Group Supervision

Battlefield combines individual (or dyadic) supervision with monthly group supervision to provide personalized consultation while fostering collaborative learning and professional growth.

More Than Licensure

Our mission is to prepare clinicians for long-term success. We want supervisees to finish with confidence, strong clinical reasoning, ethical judgment, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to learning.

Why I Chose to Become a Supervisor

Early in my career, I learned that the quality of supervision shapes the quality of the therapist you become. Technical knowledge is important, but thoughtful supervision teaches something even more valuable. It teaches you how to think, navigate uncertainty, and continue growing throughout your career.

Becoming a Qualified Clinical Supervisor was a natural extension of my passion for developing clinicians. My hope is that every therapist who completes supervision at Battlefield Counseling leaves with far more than completed hours. I want them to leave with greater confidence, deeper clinical reasoning, stronger ethical decision-making, and the skills to provide exceptional care throughout their career.
